The study of the Mormon Religion, We shall see in the following pages that the Mormon Church is One of the many Anti-Christ organizations in the world today. By definition, the term anti Christ, would carry to mean any one, or organization who distorts the word of God. Not only those who say Christ is not real. It is obvious by these studies that they not only distort, it but attempt to lower our Christ to the level of a human, and exalt their leaders to the level of Jesus. Although it is true we are joint Heirs with him in heaven as well as on earth. What is really unfortunate, is the fact that their believers are so faithful to their families and their church. No other religion is quite that strong in those areas, even the true Christian, could learn a lesson from their faithfulness to the things they hold important. What is also unfortunate they hold the writings of a man who had no real proof and a dubious background, to be the word of the Father spoken to him through tablets made of gold that only he had seen, delivered to him by way of an angel telling him where to dig. These writings change much of the word of God into unknowing Satanic worship. It is true most people who consider themselves Christians, have allowed themselves to be seduced into false doctrines. Each believing their own `Denomination' to be the true doctrine of Christ. These people are also Anti-Christ's. WE know the only true Christian is one who reads and believes the complete Word of God, as found in the bible. We begin our study in the years the tablets where found. According the record of court proceedings of that day, Joseph Smith was tried and convicted of digging for money. Although the Mormons have altered much of the history, as well as the writings, of their first prophet, they cannot alter the records of a court of law, dated march 20, 1826. This trial revealed the man Smith, as well as the rest of his family was frequently searching for buried treasure. This trial revealed Smith had a lucky stone that he gazed into to tell him where to dig. The record also shows he was never successful in this endeavor. Years before he claimed to have seen a vision where the Lord told him he was to be the Lords anointed prophet. Although it was not until 1823, he said the angel Moroni, came to his bedside to tell him of the Golden plates. He claimed this angel by an entirely different name years later. This angels name was then called Nephi. This is one of many inconsistencies in this religion. He enlisted the help of Oliver Cowdery, to help translate these plates. The history of the Mormon Religion reveals that even this man never saw these plates, but only wrote what Joeseph told him to write. They got so caught up in this, they Claimed to have been instructed by John the Baptist to Baptize each other into the Aaronic Priesthood. They succeeded in talking others into their religion, and in a short time they were off. They proceeded on the old idea, that if you tell a lie big enough no-one would think it could possibly be a lie. Joe proceeded to move about the country, gaining converts, and losing the original people he had chosen to be in the hierarchy of his church. Many of his original followers turned on him, exposing his false doctrine. He instituted polygamy as a practice of the church and was run out of towns after being tarred and feathered. In 1890, president Wilfred Woodruff, abolished polygamy as a practice of the Mormon Church. After the government threatened to confiscate their assets and dissolve their religion, they conceded. This is one concrete instance that their religious convictions were sacrificed for their political, and economic survival. Today some Mormons will tell you he never was in favor of polygamy, but all you have to do is check the Berrian collection in the New York library, for proof. In a book entitled `The Origin, Rise and Progress of Mormonism (New York, 1867), by Pomeroy Tucker, There are many sworn statements by those who knew Smith, as well as members of his own family, stating Smith was a notorious exaggerator and liar and was quite convincing in doing so. One person who knew the family well, circulated a letter that 62 residents of Palmyra, New York, signed. This letter is as follows: "We the undersigned, have been acquainted with the Smith family, for a number of years, while they resided near this place, and we have no hesitation in saying, that we consider them destitute of that moral character, which ought to entitle them to the confidence of any community. They were particularly famous for visionary projects, spent much of their time in diggings for money which they pretended was hid in the earth; and to this day, large excavations may be seen in the earth, not far from their residence, where they used to spend their time in digging for hidden treasures. Joseph Smith Sr., and his son Joseph were in particular, considered entirely destitute of moral character, and addicted to vicious habits". (Mormonism Unveiled, Zanesville, Ohio, 1834, page 261). In trying to look at both sides of the story we have looked for some evidence of individuals who knew the Smith's, that had a favorable opinion. There exists no contemporary pro-Mormon statements from reliable sources who knew the Smith's. In June of 1844, Joseph Smith and his brother were arrested for the destruction of a news paper office that was unfavorable to the religion. Before they could be tried for this crime they were killed by a mob of over two hundred people. This of course, was seen by the faithful of Mormonism as the martyrdom of Smith. Brigham Young took over the leadership of the religion and soon moved his flock out of reach of the rest of the people. In 1848, the Mormons first crops were saved from a plague of locusts by a flock of seagulls. This only furthered their belief that God had blessed their religion. The history of the Mormon church under Young would take volumes to describe, so we won't go into detail. Young did claim the title of Prophet, and all succeeding leaders of the church still claim this title. The purpose of the book of Mormon and it's mission generally eludes Christian theologians, archaeologists, and students of anthropology because of the many difficulties which the book introduces in the light of already established facts. Some of the scientific evidence against the book of Mormon is as follows. In the book `The Pearl of Great Price' written by Smith, he claimed to have sent copies of the inscriptions to New York to be checked for accuracy and originality. He have sent a farmer to see Professor Anthon, who upon seeing the copies of the writings and interpretation Smith claimed he said they were the most accurate translations he had ever seen. Professor Anthon stated in a letter dated Feb. 17, 1834, that upon receiving the paper he soon came to the conclusion that it was a trick or a hoax. He never pronounced the mormonite inscription to be reformed Egyptian hieroglyphics. This farmer had been solicited by Smith to help him publish these writings, and was willing to sell his farm if the writings proved to be true. The Professor declined to give the farmer his opinion in writing, but warned the farmer against this obvious hoax. The language of these writings that Smith claimed to be the language of people who lived here in the northern hemisphere has not been found in any archeological site any where in the world. The Professor recognized the inscriptions to be poor reproductions of several different languages obviously copied from a reference book. The book of Mormon also claims to be the record of a civilization that killed itself off through wars among the different tribes. Thirty eight large cities, and over two million people slain in these wars. By all the laws of archeological research there should be some record of such a civilization. To date there has never been any site or artifact that can be tied to such a civilization. Numerous scholars have tried to investigate the claims of the book of Mormon, and most scientists agree that no evidence can be found. The Smithsonian Institution has added its voice against these claims, as well as the Dept. of Anthropology at Columbia University. All scientists agree the pre-history described in these writings could not have possibly existed because the evidence of the history of this continent is quite to the contrary. Letters from the Smithsonian Institution as recorded in the Book of Mormon examined by Arthur Budvarson, Utah Christian Tract Society, 1959,pg 35,36. The Mormons claim the Indian race is descended from the Laminites. The blood types of the Indians and the Laminites not to mention the genetics or the language do not even come close to being the same. So says a noted Genetic and Anthropologist W.C. Boyd, as well as Bently Glass, the gifted geneticist of John Hopkins University. Since then first publication of the Book of Mormon, there has been many extensive "corrections". Names have been changed as well as words dropped and spelling errors corrected. Phraseology added and turned about. Changes in the book of Mormon and more than thirty changes in the Book of Alma. To date there has been over 2,000 changes in The Book of Mormon in it's 130 plus year history. Obviously if this were the Word of God it would not need to be edited to correct mistakes made by the original writer. Maybe if he would have studied the bible more thoroughly before making up this wild religion it would be more believable. The Book of Mormon is patently false in far too many places to be considered coincidence. The Book of Mormon, stands as a challenge to the Bible because it adds to the Word of God and to His one Revelation, and the penalty for such action is as sobering as it is awesome. " For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the Holy City, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith Shurely I come Quickly, Amen, even so come, Lord Jesus.(rev. 22:18-20) "For there shall arise many false prophets... and shall deceive many." (Mat 24) It is unfortunate that such a false religion should flourish, with such good meaning but ill-informed members. Truly the Mormons have compassion toward their fellow man, and are well meaning as well as zealous toward their religion. I hope and pray that the Mormons themselves as well as the rest of the Christian community have an opportunity to correct their mis-conceptions of God and his word. Joseph Smith was right about one thing, the whole of Christianity has perverted the Word of God into doctrines that tickle their ears. The whole world should examine their beliefs in the light of the Word of God. WE here at Yeshua Way are concerned for the fate of the world. WE make no claims not found in the Bible, because we respect the Word Of God. We study the whole Bible from Gen. to Rev. on every subject. We do not interpret the Bible, we simply read it and define words not common to today's English, with the use of a college dictionary. We make no claim to be the only true believers, or to be the only Bride of Christ. We simply want to encourage every soul to read the word for themselves. You can take the time to look up every passage on any subject in the Bible, or ask us to it with our computer. We assure you, you can do the same work, with the same results yourself. If you would like more complete information on the Mormons, we encourage you to read `The Kingdom of the Cults' an analysis of the major cult systems in the present Christian era, by Walter Martin, M.A. Ph.D..
