Avoid those given to Anger 

GEN 49:6 O my soul, come not you into their 
secret; unto their assembly, mine honor, be not 
you united: for in their anger they slew a man, 
and in their self will they digged down a wall.

PRO 22:24 Make no friendship with an angry man; 
and with a furious man you will not go:


Be slow to Anger 

PRO 15:18 A wrathful man stirs up strife: but 
he that is slow to anger appeases strife.

PRO 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better 
than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit 
than he that takes a city.

PRO 19:11 The discretion of a man defers his 
anger; and it is his glory to pass over a 
transgression.

TIT 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the 
steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, 
not given to wine, no striker, not given to 
filthy lucre;

JAM 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let 
every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow 
to wrath:


Anger brings it's own punishment

JOB 5:2 For wrath kills the foolish man, and 
envy slays the silly one.

PRO 19:19 A man of great wrath shall suffer 
punishment: for if you deliver him, yet you 
must do it again.

PRO 25:28 He that hath no rule over his own 
spirit is like a city that is broken down, 
and without walls.


Anger a characteristic of fools

PRO 12:16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but 
a prudent man covers shame.

PRO 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of 
great understanding: but he that is hasty of 
spirit exalts folly.

PRO 27:3 A stone is heavy, and the sand 
weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than 
them both.

ECC 7:9 Be not hasty in you spirit to be angry: 
for anger rests in the bosom of fools.


Children should not be Provoked to Anger 

EPH 6:4 And, you fathers, provoke not your 
children to wrath: but bring them up in the 
nurture and admonition of the Lord.

COL 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to 
anger, l they be discouraged.


Anger Connected with clamor and evil-speaking

EPH 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and 
anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put 
away from you, with all malice:


Anger Connected with cruelty

GEN 49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was 
fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will 
divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

PRO 27:3 A stone is heavy, and the sand 
weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than 
them both.

PRO 27:4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is 
outrageous; but who is able to stand before 
envy?


Anger Connected with Malice and Blasphemy

COL 3:8 But now you also put off all these; anger, 
wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication 
out of your mouth.


Anger Connected with Pride

PRO 21:24 Proud and haughty scorner is his 
name, who deals in proud wrath.


Anger Connected with Strife and Contention

PRO 21:19 It is better to dwell in the 
wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry 
woman.

PRO 29:22 An angry man stirs up strife, and a 
furious man abounds in transgression.

PRO 30:33 Surely the churning of milk brings 
forth butter, and the wringing of the nose 
brings forth blood: so the forcing of wrath 
brings forth strife.


Anger Forbidden

ECC 7:9 Be not hasty in you spirit to be angry: 
for anger rests in the bosom of fools.

MAT 5:22 But I say unto you, That whoso ever is 
angry with his brother without a cause shall be 
in danger of the judgment: and whoso ever shall 
say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of 
the council: but whoso ever shall say, You fool, 
shall be in danger of hell fire.

ROM 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, 
but rather give place unto wrath: for it is 
written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith 
the Lord.


Grievous words stir up Anger 

JDG 12:4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the 
men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the 
men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, 
Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among 
the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

2SA 19:43 And the men of Israel answered the men 
of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the 
king, and we have also more right in David than 
ye: why then did you despise us, that our advice 
should not be first had in bringing back our 
king? And the words of the men of Judah were 
fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

PRO 15:11 Hell and destruction are before the 
Lord: how much more then the hearts of the 
children of men?


In prayer be free from Anger 

1TI 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every 
where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and 
doubting.


Anger may be averted by wisdom

PRO 29:8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: 
but wise men turn away wrath.


Meekness pacifies Anger 

PRO 15:1 A Soft answer turns away wrath: but 
grievous words stir up anger.

ECC 10:4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up 
against thee, leave not you place; for yielding 
pacifies great offences.


Anger should not betray us into sin

PSA 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: 
fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

EPH 4:26 Be you angry, and sin not: let not the 
sun go down upon your wrath:


Anger a work of the flesh
